Memories in France with my mom and sister

One of the biggest challenges that Paul and I have encountered over the past few months is missing our friends and family from back home. We’ve been very lucky to receive a visit from my mom and Emily during the past week. Since my time spent in France at the age of 13, I’ve always wanted to share my taste of Europe with family. Travelling has very much shaped the person that I am today and I think that it’s important to see as much of this world as we can.

We greeted my mom and sister at the airport early on Tuesday morning. After a brief stop at the hostel, we set off on a 3 and a half hour walking tour around Paris. It was a great opportunity to see more of the exuberant city and learn a lot more about places I’ve studied in school. That evening we got lost in the neighbourhood of Montmartre and enjoyed a yummy dinner in a restaurant that was probably older than our country. On Wednesday, we went to the Castle of Versailles, and let our imaginations take us to another era where we wore fancy ball gowns and danced in a room filled with majestic paintings and golden chandeliers.
The next stop on my family’s European whirlwind was London, England for two days before coming to visit Arras. We showed them our humble abode and I had the chance to take mom, Emily and Paul on a tour at Vimy Ridge. Then, it was off to Strasbourg (which is located on the eastern side of France, next to Germany) for the last bit of their trip. We experienced some incredible weather and spent two days biking around in the sunshine, wearing t-shirts.
It was wonderful to share a bit of France with two incredible people. Thank you so much for coming to visit! Love and miss you both Mom & Em!!
